§ 50-5. Hours of operation of the public parks.

  • (a)

    The director of the parks and recreation department is authorized to establish the hours of operation for each park within the county park system and is authorized to revise the hours as is deemed necessary. The hours for each park shall be posted at each park site.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, except a properly authorized employee of the recreation department, to be in or on any property of any property beyond the established park hours without permission from either the parks and recreation department, the parks and recreation commission, or the board of commissioners.

    (c)

    Subsection (b) shall not apply to thoroughfares that are a part of the system of streets and highways of the county.

    (d)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, except an authorized employee of the parks and recreation department, to enter any public park of the county, any portion of any public park of the county, or any area of a park of the county which is gated and locked, or entry is otherwise restricted to the general public (it is hereby recognized that some parks (or portions of parks) may be locked for security reasons at hours or time when the park is otherwise in operation).
